Dubailand is the vision of Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai, and is a mammoth project by anyone’s standards. It promises to be the world’s largest and premier leisure, entertainment and theme park destination, covering an area of over 300billion square feet – more than double the size of Disneyworld and Disneyland combined.
This massive project will feature seven themed worlds, incorporating theme parks, sports and leisure facilities, planetariums, film studios, culture and art, shopping and much more and it is anticipated that upon completion will attract a footfall of 200,000 visitors per day. The project will be rolled out in phases, with Phase 1 set to be completed in early 2010 and the whole project due for completion in 2015. One of the themed worlds, and the first phase of the project is Dubai Sports City – the world’s first city dedicated to sport.
